A Digital Feeling
Static Res is a DMV-born hip hop artist who needed a new digital identity to be created just in time for the release of his third album. His love of street culture is now reflected in this new visual language and not just in his music. Working closely with the artist, I developed short video edits, merch, social media assets, and Spotify canvas loops.
Defining The Intention
To better understand how the site should function, I gathered data from over 300 prospective users. These users were fans from shows who were asked to fill out a Google Form regarding Static Res’ website. The main insights pulled from the research were:
1. The visuals should match his vibe/personality.
2. Website should be very easy to use and accessible.
3. The site should be able to change/grow with Static Res.
From a series of prototypes, I landed on a cover-page single web app architecture, each page dedicated to a specific aspect of the artist: music, contact, and a visual moodbooard to get a feeling of what the artist’s vibe looks/feels like. This single web app UI was put in place so that it could easily adapt to future scaling and asset changes.
Visual Collateral
This new visual language gives Static Res a genuine digital persona. Lots of the visuals have purposeful glitches, playful colors, and low contrast graphics. The new site is ready for anyone who wants to get to know Static Res remotely or digitally.
